Sunday 10th July saw LPCC host the return under 9s fixture with Tunbridge Wells. Both clubs fielded 3 teams, LPCC Wizards, Warlocks and Sorcerers, TW Warriors, Super Girls and Knights.
The weather was glorious, the barbie was sizzling and the ice cream van was mobbed. In the middle of this, the teams played 5 games each of 45 balls a side. For many of our players, this was their first experience of matchday cricket. Everyone committed themselves brilliantly in the heat and there were excellent examples of teamwork and individual flair. As at the Nevill 2 weeks previously, TW Warriors completed a clean sweep. However, LPCC Wizards weren't far behind and came a very impressive second.
The big winner was the club itself, with 18 young players involved. The event couldn't have taken place without the help of our managers Isla, Ollie and Harry, emergency supersub Austin, scorers James, James, Tom and Dan with Sarah, Neal and Matt doing everything else. We are sending a team to the TWCC tournament in September to round off our season.
